OPPO’s next F-series smartphone lineup is set to arrive in India on October 5, 2026, with the company confirming the launch date and teasing a 50MP ultra-wide selfie camera. The announcement puts the OPPO F35 series among the first major smartphone launches of October, a month expected to bring several new devices to Indian buyers.

There is, however, an important distinction between what OPPO has confirmed and what is circulating in leaks. As of September 28, OPPO has not publicly named the individual F35 models or released their complete specifications and prices. Reports point towards an OPPO F35 and F35 Pro, but their hardware details remain unverified.

That uncertainty matters. Early smartphone reports can be useful for understanding what may be coming, but conflicting leaks can turn a promising specification into a moving target. For buyers, the official announcement—not the rumour mill—will determine what is actually on sale.

What OPPO Has Confirmed

The clearest confirmed highlight so far is the series’ 50MP ultra-wide selfie camera, which OPPO is promoting with a 100-degree field of view and NaturalTone 2.0. A wider front camera can help fit more people into a group photograph without asking everyone to squeeze together or appointing one friend as the designated photographer who never appears in the picture.

Natural-looking skin tones are another stated focus. But camera resolution and marketing terminology cannot establish image quality on their own. The final result will depend on processing, exposure, dynamic range, low-light performance and how well the camera handles different skin tones.

The company has confirmed the October 5 launch date, while 91Mobiles reports that the exact models and full specifications have not yet been disclosed.

OPPO F35 and F35 Pro: What the Leaks Suggest

Reports from My Mobile India and other technology publications suggest that the lineup could include two phones: a standard F35 and a higher-positioned F35 Pro. The leaked specifications differ across reports, particularly on battery capacity and processors, so these details should be treated as provisional rather than a confirmed buying guide.

These are leaked or reported specifications, not confirmed Indian retail specifications. The final models, configurations and prices may differ.

The battery discrepancy deserves particular attention. My Mobile India’s September 25 report describes 8,000mAh batteries for both phones, while earlier reporting cited a possible 10,000mAh battery for the series. The processor details have also varied between leaks. It would be premature to build a purchase decision around either figure until OPPO publishes the official specification sheet.

The Selfie Camera: A Feature With a Clear Indian Audience

A 50MP ultra-wide front camera could be a meaningful feature for a market where smartphones are used extensively for family photographs, group selfies, video calls and social content.

The 100-degree field of view should make it easier to include more people or more of the surroundings in a frame. That can be useful for travellers documenting a landmark, friends at a celebration or families gathering for a festival.

But ultra-wide cameras can introduce distortion, particularly near the edges of a frame. A high megapixel count does not automatically mean better selfies, either. Skin-tone rendering, exposure in mixed lighting, edge distortion and video stabilisation will be more revealing than the headline number.

OPPO’s NaturalTone 2.0 branding suggests a focus on natural-looking colour. Independent samples will be needed to see how consistently it performs across different lighting conditions and skin tones.

Big Batteries: Useful, but Not the Whole Story

The F35 leaks suggest that battery capacity could be another major selling point. If the phones do arrive with batteries of 8,000mAh or more, that would be a substantial capacity for mainstream smartphones.

For commuters, travellers, content creators and people who spend long hours away from a charger, a larger battery can offer practical reassurance. It may also help users who rely on their phones for navigation, video streaming or mobile work throughout the day.

Still, capacity is only one part of battery performance. Screen brightness, processor efficiency, software optimisation, network conditions and charging speed all affect the experience. A large battery can also add weight and thickness. Buyers should look for real-world endurance tests and full-charge timings rather than assuming that a larger number guarantees a better experience.

The reported 80W charging support would be useful if confirmed, but charging performance should be measured on the actual retail phone. The charger supplied in the box, supported charging protocols and heat management can all affect convenience.

Durability and Performance: Wait for the Fine Print

Leaks suggest that the F35 series may emphasise durability, with high IP ratings reported for one or both models. These ratings are not interchangeable, and the exact certification matters. An IP rating also does not mean a phone is indestructible or that liquid damage is necessarily covered by warranty.

The Pro model is reported to include optical image stabilisation on its main camera and a larger vapour-chamber cooling system. If confirmed, those features could help with photography and sustained performance. But cooling hardware alone does not establish gaming performance, and OIS cannot compensate for every limitation in a camera system.

The most useful post-launch evidence will be independent testing: sustained performance, temperature under load, camera samples, battery endurance and software behaviour over time.

Price Could Be the Deciding Factor

The leaked price ranges place the standard F35 around ₹35,000–₹40,000 and the F35 Pro around ₹45,000–₹50,000. These are estimates, not official prices.

The Pro model will also need to explain what its price premium buys. A better main camera, stronger performance or improved durability could justify a higher price for some users—but only if those differences are substantial in everyday use.

OPPO’s F-series has previously leaned into selfie photography and durability. The company’s April 2026 announcement for the F33 series, for example, highlighted a 50MP ultra-wide selfie camera, IP69K durability and a 7,000mAh battery. The F35 series appears to continue that broad direction, although its final specifications must be confirmed independently.

The OPPO F35 series has a recognisable pitch: a camera designed for wider selfies, potentially large batteries and a choice between standard and Pro models. These are features with practical appeal in India, where a smartphone often serves as camera, entertainment screen, navigation device and everyday work tool.

But the pre-launch information is not yet consistent enough to support a firm verdict. An 8,000mAh battery and a 10,000mAh battery represent different design choices. Likewise, a leaked processor name or price range should not be treated as a promise from the manufacturer.

The October 5 announcement should settle the most important questions: which models are coming, what hardware they actually contain, how much they cost and when sales begin. Until then, the sensible approach is to compare confirmed features—not the most exciting version of each rumour.
